CHF Finalist for International Cooperation Award

CHF's Building Community Capacity Project (BCCP) in Guyana was a finalist in the 14th Annual Canadian Awards for International Cooperation, sponsored by the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME).

The Canadian Awards for International Co-operation recognize initiatives by Canadian companies and organizations that have made a significant contribution to international cooperation.

“These awards honour excellence and corporate and personal commitment to international development,” explains Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of CME. “The people involved from Canada and the developing countries in these projects are working to make a significant, sustainable positive difference in individual lives, communities and countries.”

One of just three projects shortlisted for the Award for Improvement of Social Instrastructure/Condition, BCCP has developed a series of tailored training programs for community leaders and NGOs in over 20 small communities in Guyana.

The project helps organizations to establish reliable financial systems, develop and implement fundraising plans, improve their capacity for project proposal preparation and management skills, and increase and upgrade their human resources. BCCP is a CIDA-funded project.
